At the Sheraton Brook Hollow Ho
tel in Houston Saturday night, Texas
A&M junior journalism major Tiffany
Grant won the state-level Miss Black
and Gold Pageant.
Grant, who was also recognized
for “Best Talent,” said the 13 con
testants were evaluated in an intro
duction, a question-and-answer ses
sion, a swimsuit competition, a
talent competition and an interview
session.
Grant said as reigning pageant
winner, she will work with contestants
at next year’s state and local level.
She said students get involved in
the pageant by attending an infor
mational meeting held each fall se
mester, applying and interviewing.
Grant said she believes the Black
and Gold Pageant represents an up
lifting experience for African-Ameri
can women on college campuses.
She said she was proud to rep
resent A&M in the state competition.
“And I love Texas, so I’ll be even
prouder to represent it in the re
gional competition," she said.
The regional competition will be
March 25-27 in Lafayette, La.
