Woodson said she wants to demonstrate to legislators how important health care and family planning are to women. She said some legislators already support the causes. “We want to let the legislators who support women’s issues know that they are doing a good job,” she said. “Hopefully we can convince the legislators that are borderline on the issues.” The Bryan-College Station Planned Parenthood clinic will hold an open house Wednesday, Feb. 17, where ribbons, signed by community members and given to the new clinic, will be cut. Planned Parenthood did not have a ribbon-cutting ceremony sponsored by the Bryan-College Station Chamber of Commerce for the new clinic, as is customary when members of the chamber open a new facility. Planned Parenthood withdrew its request for a ceremony follow ing a campaign by the Brazos Val ley Coalition for Life (BVCL) to halt the ceremony. The campaign resulted in a flood of faxes and phone calls to the chamber, leading the chamber to cancel the memberships of Planned Parenthood, BVCL and Hope Pregnancy Center.
