E.O.E. Haas Hall Council will host the third annual Haas Hall Honey Hunt tonight at 7 in the MSC Flagroom to raise money for the local chapter of Habitat for Humanity. Valerie Long, treasurer for Haas Hall Council and a sophomore accounting major, said the purpose of the Honey Hunt is community service. “We are doing this for Habitat for Humanity,” she said. “Last year we had 15 guys involved and raised over $530.” Long said 18 men are expected to auction items at tonight’s event. “We’ve got two of the yell leaders, one of the quarter backs, Rich Coady, Ja’mar Toombs, Chris Cole and the MSC President [Will Hurd], to name a few,” she said. Long said the participants are not going to be auc tioned, only items donated by them. “It’s not the guys that get auctioned off,” she said. “We auction stuff they donate, like old footballs, jer seys, teddy bears and sometimes they will donate din ner for the buyer and a friend.” Long said council members have worked on the event for the past two months, but concentrated ef fort has been during the last two weeks. “We have had meetings every night for the past two weeks trying to make sure everything will go smoothly,” she said. Karisha Hearns and Christina Oheari, members of Haas Hall Council, will emcee the event. BY NONI SRIDHARA The Battalion Students planning to register for CHEM 107, Chemistry for Engineers, for the spring semester will have an opportunity to take the course via live television broadcasts. Dr. Joseph Newton, executive associ ate dean for the College of Science, said there had been discussions about ways of incorporating technology into the class room. Newton said the decision was made in the summer to start a television course that would target a large audience. “We always had plans to do this, but one of the main forces that prompted us to move up the implementation of this program to an earlier date was the huge increase in the number of freshmen that enrolled this fall,” he said. “We had a 1,000 more freshman than we expected come on board this fall,” Newton said. The course will be broadcast live during a regular class time slot of 10:20 to 11:10 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Dr. Larry Brown, senior lecturer in the chemistry department, will teach the course. Brown said the broadcast of the course will benefit students in many ways. “First of all, this helps give students more flexibility in their scheduling plans since they don’t actually have to able in that time slot,” he said. Brown said students will hii benefit of being able to recordk and play them back later if they: grasp concepts the first time at “This way I will be availableondf in a way,” he said. Brown said students who wa j broadcast will have the chance toptl and e-mail questions they have. Broil students will also have a chancetol to come and visit the television I where the lectures are taking place f “We will have space to accomrl approximately 20 students eachtirl can come and see what the studioil Brown said. “This will also helpmel ting adjusted so that I have an ail right in front of me.” Brown said students should r I exam times are scheduled for WedJ nights. Brown said this course anc| courses which will follow will probai only benefit students, but will benet ty as well if it is carried on to other cl “This course will help me have more free time, so I can be in the more during the day and more as ble for students to come in andasi tions,” he said. he Bat by I “The i I That’s ilg to Ur Italey aft Ion Tide KCAA tc lie Aggie I Freshr ington ga lutran th ■he box Brown be I Browr Ion put c |mpty go I turr bf me sa |id,” Ren With s ibama e\ cored of Despit ;ies pick EXTRA SHOPPING HOURS FRIDAY & SATURDAY 8 AM TIL MIDNIGHT TORI relocated to Shapers 774-0589 all Tori's coupons honm .&!
