The Longhorns are led by se-

“People a lot of times don’t

cause we know we can beat them.
I think even though we’re very
young, we’ve showed a lot of con
fidence on the court.”
This game also features a re
match of two senior All-Americans,
Sykora for the Aggies and Demetria
Sance for the Longhorns.
In the first contest, Sance had a
game-high 25 kills for Texas, and
Sykora posted 38 digs which tied
an A&M match record.
“Anytime you play Texas, you
know you’re going to have to stop
her [Sance] just like other teams
know they have to stop Stacy,” Cor
belli said. “She’s an incredible play
er, and we’ll have to handle her as
best we can.
“Erin Aldrich also could give us
some problems. She blocks ex
tremely well, and she’s very hard
to defend. If we can cut down on
our mistakes, and each player does
her part, we can beat them.”
Despite the two A&M losses, the
Aggies continue to play solid de
fense, especially at the net. A&M
had 31 blocks in two matches. Ju
nior middle blocker Amber
Woolsey posted five solo blocks
and assisted on 13 others in the
two matches.
“Even though we lost, we left
our hearts out on the court,” Cor
belli said. “Against Colorado, we
didn’t play to our potential, but
we played as well as we can
against Nebraska.
“Playing in the Big 12, we’re com
peting against some of the best teams
in the country. If we can continue to
play the way we’re capable of play
ing, then we can win any match.”
