“There is a process of

Arnold said there are not many
treatment options for people who
contract the flu because it is a virus.
Viral infections cannot he killed by
medications like bacterial infections
because bacteria are living organ
isms, while viruses are not.
“If you get the flu, you need to
drink a lot of liquids and stay away
from others,” Arnold said.
Arnold said it is important to
avoid others because of the risk of
infecting them and the risk of con
tracting other illnesses. She said
contracting other illnesses is possi
ble because, if infected, a person’s
immune system is low.
Kostohryz said there are several
precautions students can take to pro
tect themselves from the virus. She
said students should avoid stress,
wash their hands frequently and
maintain proper sleep and diet habits.
