our rhythm,” Corbelli said. “We needed a
day off this week [after Texas], and we
needed to review Kansas State on Friday.
We haven’t had a chance to work on Texas
A&M Volleyball.”
The Aggies were led by senior outside
hitter Stacy Sykora. The Burleson native
led the Aggies with 17 kills while posting
12 digs defensively and tying a career high
with 7 blocks. All of this came on the heels
of a five-game marathon match against
No. 13 Texas Wednesday.
“Personally, it’s hard to get that hyped
for a game following Texas,” Sykora said.
“They (Kansas State) were digging a lot of
balls and were coming after us tonight.”
Junior outside hitter Summer Strickland
and junior middle blocker Amber Woolsey
both had solid nights for the Aggies.
Woolsey was one block short of a double
double, collecting nine blocks to go along
with 11 kills. A quick start by Strickland
led to 10 digs and 8 kills.
“I thought Summer Strickland started
off very aggressive and did a great job
with her game,” Corbelli said. “Amber
Woolsey turned up her game in the mid
dle of game 2 for us.”
The win improved the Aggies record to
10-2 and 3-1 in the Big 12 Conference.
Kansas State fell to 8-5 on the year and 2-
2 in the Big 12. The Aggies are in action
next, on Oct. 9, when they host the Kansas

AUSTIN — A final-round 71 capped
off a stellar performance by individual
co-medalist Marta Ostos as she led the
12th-ranked Texas A&M Women’s Golf
Team to a third-place finish at the Big 12
Fall Preview at Circle C Golf Club over
the weekend.
The sophomore from Mexico City card
ed rounds of 76, 75 and 71 for a three-
round total of 222, tying her for individ
ual honors with sophomore Noel
Jacobousse from Iowa State University.
“Marta had a very good tournament,”
coach Jeanne Sutherland said.
The individual win by Ostos continued
a hot streak for her that includes winning
the Mexican Amateur last spring and be
ing chosen to represent Mexico in the
World Cup in November.
The Aggies finished out of the run
ner-up circle for the first time in the
three- year history of the Big 12 Fall
Preview.
The 6,082-yard, par-72 course saw the
Aggies post a score of 922, outdone by the
two other ranked teams in the tourna
ment. No.9 Texas finished second with a
three-round team total of 916.
No. 13 Oklahoma State successfully
defended their crown by firing a 908,
highlighted by a second-round total team
score of 295.
The Aggies scored better with their put
ters this week, but Sutherland said im
provement can be made for the defending
Big 12 champions.
“I’m satisfied with the way the team
played,” Sutherland said. “We still need to
work on our short game and putting to get
where we need to be. ”
Two freshman, Anna Jonsson and
Jennifer Cates, put forth solid efforts for
the Aggies.
Jonsson carded Saturday rounds of 76
and 80 and came back Sunday for a solid
final round score of 76 for a three round
total of 232.
Cates, competing in her first collegiate
tournament, fired a two-round total of 160
Saturday and ended with a score of 245
for the tournament.
