Sutherland brought in two new recruits that should
make an immediate impact on the course. Anna Jonsson,
from Sweden, was chosen to represent Sweden in the Eu
ropean Championship and McKenzie Dyslin, from Grand
Junction, Colo., won the Colorado State Championship
by five strokes. Becker said she believes the two true
freshmen really could improve the team.
“They are both really good players for freshmen,”
Becker said. “They might not be as consistent, but they
could make us a lot better.”
The Aggies will take part in the Big 12 Preview Oct. 3
and 4 in Austin at Circle C Golf Club and will defend its
first place finish when they host the GTE Mo-morial Clas
sic on Feb. 22 and 23.
A&M enters the season ranked 12th in the nation.
Sutherland said she knows that is a confidence boost for
the Aggies entering the season.
“That shows a lot of respect for our program,” Suther
land said. “We lost three of our top players (Hullett, Aurora
Kirchner and Rosberg) and we are still ranked in the top 15.”
The Aggies begin the 1998-99 campaign Sept. 24 when
they compete in the University of New Mexico-Dick
McGuire Invitational in Albuquerque, N. M.
