The studio executives in
charge of Knockoff, Jean-Claude
Van Damme’s return to doing the
splits on the silver screen, never
even bothered to show critics the
movie before opening night.
This lack of confidence is jus
tified. Hark, normally a genius
in the action genre, directs a
lame duck, attempting to blend
physical action with buddy-bud
dy comedy.
This combination worked bet
ter in the Lethal Weapon series.
When Van Damme tries to em
ulate the new Hong Kong talents,
it comes across as borrowed.

The first single off the album, “Whose bed have
your boots been under?,” rose to No. 11 on the
Billboard Country Singles chart.
The second single, “Any man of mine,” made
the Billboard chart in May and spent 20 weeks
on it.
That and four other tracks from the album
topped the Country Singles chart at No.l includ
ing “(If you’re not in it for love) I’m outta here,”
“The woman in me (needs the man in you),” “You
win my love” and “No one needs to know.”
Despite its success, no touring was ever done
for the album.
