ally strong,” Hartman said. “As we gain experience,
the women’s team ... will move up.”
Tfue freshman Melissa Gulli led the way for the
women with an 11:33 two-mile leg.
Dwyer and freshman Sarah Doyle finished in 11:40
and 11:45, respectively.
Others finishing in twelve minutes or under were
Edwards in 11:53, sophomore Debbie Villarreal in
11:55, Bonn in 11:57, and senior Marisa Tbzzi in 12:00.
Gulli, who had the lead after running her two mile
leg, felt that the race was a good starting point.
“It was pretty good for the start of the season,” Gul
li said. “We’ll have a really good team this year and
we’ll go far. ”
The race, which the teams ran in a controlled
manner, was used to determine a starting point for
all of the runners.
Darcey said he felt the meet would show the team
what it needs to work on.
“We’re trying to see where everybody is at and
where our fitness level is at,” Darcey said.
The men and women look ahead to their first team
scoring of the season at the University of Miami-Ohio
next Saturday.
Hartman is excited to see how his teams will fare
in team competition.
“It’ll be interesting to see how they all run at once,”
Hartman said. “I think we’ll improve on our finish in
the Big 12.”

Soccer club team
conducts tryouts
The Texas A&M Women’s Soccer
Club Team will conduct tryouts this
week at Simpson Drill Field.
The tryouts will be Monday,
Wednesday and Thursday from 5
p.m. to 7 p.m. each day.
No. 19 Ags win 2,
lose one to Pacific
The No. 19 Texas A&M Volleyball
Team finished with a 2-1 record
over the weekend at the Pacific
Tournament.
The Aggies won their first two
games before falling to No. 11 Pa
cific in the final game.
In the first game, the Aggies
defeated Creighton 15-2, 15-8
and 15-1.
Senior Stacy Sykora had a
match-high 15 kills and 11 digs,
and junior Amber Woolsey added
12 kills in the win.
A&M improved to 2-0 the follow
ing day with a 3-1 (9-15,15-12,15-
9, 15-5) victory over Georgia Tech.
The Aggies were led again by
Sykora, who had 20 kills, and Jen
na Moscovic, who had a team-high
48 assists and 10 digs.
The Aggies fell in their third
match to Pacific 15-6,15-11,15-11
despite a team-high 19 kills and 10
digs from Sykora.
Both Sykora and Woolsey were
named to the All-Tournament Team.
Pacific placed four on the team and
Georgia Tech placed one.
Slocum to speak at
12th Man meeting
Texas A&M Football Coach R.C.
Slocum will be the guest speaker at
the 12th Man Student Foundation
tonight at 7 p.m.in Rudder 601.
Slocum is the school’s all-time
winningest coach, passing Homer
Norton in last year’s win over Texas.
