Mark Gonzales, a Corps compa
ny commander and a senior busi
ness analysis major, said he prepared
the schedule for the week before the
review and made sure the freshmen
were being taught everything they
needed to know.
Gonzales led his outfit out for re
view, and made sure they are march
ing in proper formation. He said par
ents are always proud when they see
their children have made it through the
first week of Corps life with success.
Justin Hellenguard, a sophomore
wildlife and fisheries science major,
said he does the hands-on training
of the freshmen, teaching them how
to polish brass, march in formation
and wear their uniforms. He said
the freshmen are relieved and proud
when they are released after the re
view and can tell their parents
about their experiences.

“Mud lot” will be no more, ac
cording to an announcement made
Friday by owner Jack Culpepper.
The “mud lot” at Northgate will
house a seven-story hotel, with con
struction set to begin in February.
Culpepper and developer Ar-
gyle-Leddy Hospitality Company of
San Antonio announced the hotel
development after almost two
years of project planning. Develop
er Drake Leddy said the growth of
the Bryan-College Station area will
make the hotel successful.
“The Bryan-College Station area
is one of the fastest growing com
munities in the state,” Leddy said.
“It's been a long labor but we do be
lieve that we have come up with the
right combination for the project.”
The 176-room facility will be a
Club Hotel by Doubletree, which is
designed to accommodate the needs
of the business traveler. The top floor
of the Club Hotel will contain suites
renting for $125 a day and 160 guest
rooms renting for $75 a day, accord
ing to the developer fact sheet.
Mayor Lynn Mcllhaney of Col
lege Station said the city has been
cultivating ideas for improving the
Northgate area for years.
“We are beginning to see the
planning coming together,” Mcll
haney said. “If we can provide fa
cilities, then we can provide what
is best for the community.”
The “Business Club,” the name
given to the multi-purpose rooms
in the Club Hotel, will contain a
self-service business center includ

In a copy of Pradhan's original
complaint filed Aug. 20, “Dr. Prad-
han came to realize that the minori
ty faculty was resented and often
subject to racial slurs (and) was par
ticularly offended by the racial slurs
made towards Indian and Asian stu
dents, graduate students and faculty
by the white faculty of TAMU.”
The hearing will determine if A&M
officials responded adequately when
placing Pradhan on leave.
Since August 1997, Pradhan
has continued to receive his
$181,768 annual salary.
Pradhan faces criminal charges in
Brazos County, accusing him of us
ing approximately $3,000 of state
funds for one of his private patents.
Separate charges also accuse
Pradhan of two counts of abuse of
official capacity.
