“As a teacher, 1 would like to
tell the members what it's like out
there, to say 'This is the real world.'
I wish everyone could teach for just
one year — the kids need to see
their faces," Chapa said. "I hope
they don't forget what CAMAC
did for them, and that they won't
forget to give back."
Lodez-Aguado said CAMAC
enabled her to do more than she
could ever have done on her own.
"We accomplished a great
deal, we brought speakers, met
people we would have never met
— like Selena — raised money
and planned events," Lodez-
Aguado said.
Chapa said the skills she learned
from CAMAC were some of the
most valuable assets she acquired
while at A&M.
"I'm amazed at what we did,"
she said. "I learned more from
working in committees than I ever
did in classes."

Moore said the forum not only allows people to read
about what other individuals are concerned about, but
it brings communities together under a common bond.
"I hope they sign up and let us know what they
think about the issues so we can better understand
each other," he said.

Youth shot in spine by teenager stealing bike
HOUSTON (AP) — A 10-
year-old boy may never walk
again after he was shot in the
spine by a teenager who stole
his new bicycle.
Roland Sanders Jr. was in crit
ical condition Sunday in the pe
diatric intensive care unit at Ben
Taub Hospital.
As he fights to recover, his
family is left asking questions
that have no apparent answers.
''Who would shoot a 10-
year-old boy over a little
bike?" Roland's uncle, Keith
Sanders,said. "His parents are
not angry. They're just very
hurt. My brother is sad his son
won't enjoy the benefits of a
full life."
Roland was shot Friday as he
and two friends rode their bikes
to a store just a few blocks from
his home, authorities said.
Roland had bought his bike
just hours earlier, with $75 he
saved from mowing lawns.
When the teenager tried to
take the bike, Roland resisted.
But when the teen pulled a gun,
Roland tried to cooperate.
The robber shot him anyway,
then calmly pedaled away, wit
nesses said. Police have made
no arrests.
Sanders said Roland was alert
Saturday and able to tell his
family what had happened.
"One of the first things he
told his dad was he doesn't
want any more bicycles,"
Sanders said.
