Eve 6 has hit the airwaves like
this month's Matchbox 20 with
their first single "Inside Out."
Lead vocalist Max Collins opens
the band's hit with the line "I
would swallow my pride," but it
sounds more like he swallowed his
own voice. His sound is similar to
the lead singer of the Crash Test
Dummies, only an octave higher.
There must be an English major
in the group with phrases like "the
lack thereof" and "violated and
singed with deceit" peppering
these pop tunes.
The bottom line — the album is
not that good, but neither is any
thing else getting radio play.
Better than Savage Garden but not
quite Third Eye Blind, Eve 6 is
sure to be a radio staple for
months to come.

Jesus Hits Like The Atom Bomb

"Waited A Light Year," one of
the songs from the new 1 ripping
Daisy album and the time it seems
it took the band to release another
album, proves to be a waste of
material on this 15-track compila
tion of mirrored guitar riffs and
age-old drum beats.
And now that the music of the
album has been covered (there real
ly isn't much to say about hearing
the same beat over and over again),
the focus turns to the lyrics.
"When we were friends / This 1
know / I waited a long time ago /
1 wondered where we left off when
we were friends / Sold to me for a
life / 1 want her / Bop, bop, bop,
bop / La, la, la, la." These are the
only lyrics that make up the six-
minute creation "Waited A Light
Year" — not exactly a masterpiece.
This track doesn't kill the
album, however. "Mechanical
Breakdown" features the brilliant
phrase, "1 was born a self-styled
crusader in an amazing race of
human elevators."
These are the kind of lyrics one
would expect from such a band
with talent that has yet to reach its
full potential. Sure the band is a
recognized name in the music
industry, but these days, unless one
has the imaginative spark to be as
inventive as Tricky, a band has no
