To ensure accuracy of the results,
Griffith said students should be test
ed within a specific time frame.
The length of time a person
needs to wait before they take the
test depends on the date when
they think they were infected.
"There is a time frame when a
person is infected the body pro
duces antibodies at a level that
can be detected.
The test is 95 percent accurate
at three months and 99 percent
accurate at six months," she said.
Test results are available 10
days to two weeks after testing.
"No results are given over the
phone and people need to check
back with the place they took the
test," she said.
Griffith said that if anyone has
tested positive for an sexually
transmitted disease they should
consider getting tested for HIV.
"If you have an STD you
might want to also consider get
ting tested," Griffith said. "If you
have an STD and you're exposed
