School is almost out for the summer
and that means its closing time again for
many of the 10,000 students living on
campus.
Closing time means packing and mov
ing home for the summer.
Residence halls are scheduled to close
officially on May 17 at noon for the spring
session. All students living in residence
halls on campus must check out with a
resident advisor and be completely
moved out of the residence hall 24 hours
after the last final.
Dan Mizer, the assistant director of
the Department of Residence Life, sug
gests that students check out as soon
as possible.
“If students can check out with a resi
dent advisor as soon as possible, that will
help reduce traffic flow,” Mizer said. "We
are checking out a small city of occupants
in a small amount of time."
Student residents living in Southside
residence halls may load vehicles on Lub
bock Street and Mosher Lane, which will
be open to one-way traffic and one-side
parking from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 11 to
15.
Parking, Traffic and Transportation
Services (PITS) Director Tom Williams
said people using Lubbock Street for
loading purposes may enter from Coke
Street and exit into Bizzell Street.
Bizzell Street will have parking avail
able on both sides of the street and will be
open to regular two-way traffic.
Any students wanting to stay on cam
pus after 5 p.m. on May 14 must complete
a Request for Extended Residence Hall
Occupancy form available from thi
partment of Residence Life. Currem
dents living on campus with resen®
for the first summer school session
be eligible for interim housing, x
lasts from May 15 to 27.
The students may sign up fork:
housing on May 11 and 12bet\veem.
