Lisa Dingwall will try to stop the Aggie losing
skid when she faces Texas Christian’s tennis squad.
TheTexas A&M Women’s Tennis Team takes a
trip to Fort Worth today to play the No. 23-ranked
Horned Frogs of Texas Christian University.
The Aggies need to put up another win after
their two losses last weekend to Middle Ten
nessee State University and Vanderbilt. The
match against TCU is the last non-conference
match for the Aggies, who face both Texas and
Kansas next week.
Coach Bob Kleinecke said the team needs to
play more consistently against TCU than they
did in their match with MTSU.
“We had too many errors against Middle Ten
nessee,” Kleinecke said. “We have to play with
more consistency and composure, and we made
some good strides on Sunday. We just have to
keep it going.”
Kleinecke said the TCU match will be a tough
one, but that it is a good chance to bounce back
from last weekend. He said they need to play well

Young, one of the nation’s top high
school basketball players, is skip
ping college to enter the NBA draft.
“I’ve made this decision based on
many hours of consultation with my
family and friends,” he said today.
Dressed in his gray and white
Liniform and speaking at a news
conference at Hargrave Military
Academy, the 6-foot-7 forward said
he’s wanted to play in the NBA
since he was in grade school
watching Julius Erving.
“In my heart, I think I can be
come a good NBA basketball
player,” he said.
Hargrave coach Scott Shepherd
said Young visited Arkansas, Con
necticut, Georgetown and UNLV
this season and would have quali
fied academically had he chosen
to attend college.
Young, a first-team Parade Mag
azine All-American in his junior and
senior years, has hired an agent,
Shepherd said. But he would still be
eligible to attend college in the fall
if no NBA team drafts him June 24.
Young hopes to be the fifth play
er to enter the league straight out of
high school since 1995, joining
Kevin Garnett, Kobe Bryant, Tracy
McGrady and Jermaine O’Neal.
The only player to turn pro out
of high school and not get drafted
in that time was Taj McDavid of
Palmeto High School in South
Carolina in 1996.
In the 1970s, Moses Malone.
Bill Willoughby and Darryl
Dawkins all jumped to the NBA
from high school.
Young transferred to Hargrave
from Wichita, Kan., for his senior
season and averaged 29.3 points
and 11.3 rebounds for the Tigers
postgraduate team, which plays
junior colleges, college .1-95. Nickel said Li
