I THE I PRINCETON REVIEW (409) 696-9099 (800) 2REVIEW Artfest Continued from Page 1 “People need to come and see the artwork,” he said. “The interaction between the artist and the viewer is impor tant. It allows the viewers to get ideas, and another view of the world.” Erin Petersen, chair of the MSC Visual Arts Committee, said the participation this year has increased from artists to viewers and there has been a lot of positive feedback. “This show is put on by stu dents, for students, to show case the artwork of students,” she said. “We had about 103 pieces entered into the exhibi tion. We are currently display ing first through third place winners and whomever the judges felt like showcasing. This is A&M art.” Petersen said because A&M does not have a fine arts department, this allows students to get their foot in the door. “Fine arts is unbelievably important because it is a record of what is going on,” she said. “This is something people need to learn about. It is our goal to to increase awareness. We are a valuable outlet for students to be come involved.” Petersen said A&M may not be a strong fine arts school but she was amazed and im pressed by how many people turned out and the material they chose. “We had art pieces in it huge variety of material,” she said. “There was work in iron, cop per, clay, and leather. If 1 could, I would display them all." ‘Milleniui takes on LOS ANGELES |AP. riksen put down hisreij up the history books his role as the doorifc-MpT “The Day Lincoln Wasifry Wanting to domofsB® r Lincoln’s look, theac.:|| vi seven volumes about: who held the Union to cost of his own life. “Once I got into it, forever.
