T exas A&M’s injury-depleted track and
field team managed to finish the Texas
Relays this past weekend without suffer
ing any additional injuries. The men’s team
should get a huge boost this weekend at the
A&M Invitational with the return of juniors
Toya Jones, Micheal Price and Mike Lowrance
and seniors Larry Wade and Billy Fobbs to
competitive action. The women, however, con
tinue to improve and appear to be just a few
events away from the top teams in the nation.

The Coveted Fourth Leg
Last season, Texas A&M’s 4x100-meter relay
team captured the National Championship in a
time of 38.80 seconds. The members of that
team included Fobbs, Jones, Price and Danny
McCray. Of those, McCray is the only one that
has graduated and moved on.
Now, Coach Ted Nelson is left with the diffi
cult decision of replacing McCray and attempt
ing to get the team back to national promi
nence. Among the candidates to replace
McCray include freshmen Joel Nelson and Kris
Allen, as well as senior hurdler Wade.
The 4x100-meter relay team should be cho
sen in the next couple of weeks and will begin
