CS library moves
to new facility
The College Station library will
close Thursday evening and relo
cate to a new building at 800 FM
2818. It will reopen March 12.
The new 16,500 square feet li
brary triples the old library’s size of
5,000 square feet.
Clara Mounce, community li
brarian, said that during the tem
porary close of the College Station
site, people may return books to
the old College Station site or to
the Bryan library at 201 East 26th
St.
Mounce said she encourages
people to use the Bryan library while
the College Station library is closed.
“If you’re wanting to read the
new bestseller,” Mounce said, “you
don’t want to have to wait two
weeks.” *
The College Station and Bryan li
braries are branches of the Com
munity Library system. One library
card serves patrons of both the
Bryan and the College Station li
braries.
Library staff experienced a sim
ilar move after fire damaged the
Community Library’s Bryan loca
tion three years ago.
While the library is closed, the
staff will learn how to use the pub
lic access computers and book the
meeting room.
The new site will be dedicated at
a ceremony on March 8, and Robert
S. Martin, director and librarian of
the Texas State Library and Archives
Commission, will speak.
