Bathroom
Continued from Page 3
The door opens, ears stand
tall and listen to the creaking
sound of salvation.
Finally, without considera
tion to line order, everyone
bolts for the bowl, but only
one person will be victorious
in the journey.
This is yet another aspect of
what goes on in a bathroom.
Cade Spell, a junior environ
mental design major, said the
bathroom takes on more of a con
versational use during parties.
“It’s like when we’re having
a party over here, my room
mate and his girlfriend have a
fight and lock themselves in
there,” he said.
As to why the bathroom is
the best place to talk, Spell
said it mostly has to do with
crowd control.
“Usually all the other rooms
are filled,” he said.
• A WHOLE NEW WORLD,
OR THAT PERSONAL
TOUCH
Although a bathroom is typ
ically equipped with toilet pa
per, a plunger and hair spray,
students find certain items help
to personalize this room.
“I’ve got a little framed Coca-
Cola advertisement on the
wall,” Spell said.
It’s the small elements such
as a poster that can add piz
zazz to a bathroom, but Spell
said the bathroom is unique in
another manner.
“It’s the one room that sees
everybody naked,” he said.
Even for other students, the
bathroom may sometimes trans
form into a universe unlike any
thing humans have ever seen.
Cyndi Herrera, a former Texas
A&M student and an employee
at Bath & BodyWorks, said the
bathroom is representational of
an escape from everyday life.
“When you're actually
bathing in the shower, it can be
a place to relax and get things off
your mind in order to be stress
free,” she said.
Herrera said scented candles
in the bathroom are the identi
fiable elements that make the
room her own. She also said the
bathroom is a great place to take
the time out for a study break.
“I always took a bath and read
my chapters,” she said. “It’s a place
where you won’t be bothered."
