Takenobu said she wishes
more people were willing to ap
preciate differences.
“In Japan, it is mostly Japanese;
we don’t have the diversity America
does,” Takenobu said. “I think
sometimes people take that diversi
ty for granted.”
Chaclin said he plans to attend
graduate school at A&M.
“I have really enjoyed my time
here,” Chaclin said. “It isn’t hard;
there are programs like I-Camp and
International Week and groups like
International Students Association
to help.”
Takenobu said when her parents
came to visit A&M, they shared her
enthusiasm for the campus.
“My father was amazed at the
size of A&M,” she said. “Japan
lacks the land necessary for such
a large area.”
Takenobu said America is a con
sumer’s paradise.
“In Japan, things are fairly ex
pensive and can be hard to get, but
in America everything is afford
able,” she said.
Dharwadker said he has devel
oped a special attachment to A&M.
“I don’t think I could ever sup
port another football team,” he said.
Dharwadker’s best advice for in
ternational students could be ap
plicable to anyone in a new place:
“Meet as many different people as
you can.”
