Feather
Continued from Page 1
After his high-school gradua
tion, Feather spent a year in
Barcelona, Spain, as a Rotary
Club exchange student. He de
cided to attend A&M during his
time in Barcelona.
“I didn’t put any thought into
where I was going to school,”
Feather said. “In Spain, I decid
ed to come to A&M on a whim
and I told my mom to check that
I was interested in the Corps.”
Feather said his choice to join
the Corps came a few weeks be
fore his freshman year began.
He said that although he was a
reluctant cadet at first, he en
joyed the Corps.
“I was disappointed in my aca
demic program my first semester,
but I really liked the Corps,”
Feather said. “I didn’t like the big
classes and it was a big adjust
ment from the lax lifestyle in
Spain and small town life.”
In the Corps, Feather has
been in Squadron 8 and was the
leadership training sergeant on
last year’s Corps staff. He also is
a Ross Volunteer. He was nomi
nated for the commander posi
tion by last year’s Corps com
mander, Steven Foster.
“The greatest feeling I have
ever experienced is leading the
Corps with the (Aggie) Band
right behind me in march-ins
and Corps trip parades,” Feath
er said. “It is such a rewarding
experience and it sends chills
down my spine.”
The commander said he is
grateful for his experiences at
A&M, although he wishes he had
been more involved in other
campus organizations. Feather
said he loves A&M and the
Corps, but A&M lacks ethnic and
ideological diversity.
Feather said the Corps has
seen improvements, but he does
not take credit for changes.
“The Corps has improved,
not because ofwhatlani;
but what guysafewyeai
did,” he said.
