Perhaps the reason pot hasn’t
been endorsed by a major medical
organization yet, because of nega
tive, blind, knee-jerk reactions
that are so common in American
media today.
And while pot contains over 600
cancer-causing agents, no one has
ever been diagnosed with cancer
caused by smoking marijuana.
No one has ever overdosed on
marijuana in its 10,000 year exis
tence. Untold minions develop
cancer from cigarettes and liver dis
ease from alcohol every year, but
these dangerous products are read
ily available to anyone who really
wants them. Ferguson’s claim that
pro-pot groups such as NORML
want to legalize all dangerous and
harmful drugs is as paranoid as it is
unfounded and untrue.
Comparing marijuana to drugs
such as crack cocaine and heroin is
like comparing baby aspirin to
methadone and morphine. The
people benefitting most from.
proposition 215 are people afflicted
with terminal illnesses like cancer
and AIDS.
If smoking pot eases these unfor
tunate people in their dying days, I
for one will not condemn them.
Perhaps if Ferguson relaxed a
little, ditched the dogma attached
to marijuana, and helped himself
to a healthy toke, he would see
things in a more positive light.
