In and Out
The third-ranked Texas A&M
Soccer Team was stunned by
unranked Baylor this weekend in
a dubious 2-1 overtime loss.
The controversy occurred in
the 23rd minute. Baylor forward
Nikki Hales took a pass from
teammate Molly Cameron and
scored the first goal of the game.
A&M is protesting the game
result to the NCAA and Big 12
appealing that the officials
directly violated a rule in the
NCAA rule book by allowing
play to continue and then going
back and changing a decision.
According to the Texas A&M
Sports Information Department,
an appeal along with a video tape
of the incident have been mailed
to the governing bodies.
The lone A&M goal was scored
in the 78th minute when A&M
freshman Nikki Thrasher knotted
things up by blasting the ball past
the Baylor keeper.
With the results as they stand,
A&M suffers their first conference
defeat of the season and only their
second Big 12 Conference loss in
the two-year history of the league.
The Aggies fall to 12-2-0 overall
and 8-1-0 in league play, while
Baylor moves to 10-3-0, 7-2-0.
