They really want to play the Atlanta Braves. “It’s very comfortable to go play those guys,” left fielder Luis Gonzalez said. “We seem to play to the level of our competition and they’re the best. So hopefully we’ll get real excited and play well.” The Astros, champions of the weak NL Central, can not match up in victories with the Braves, the only major league team to win 100 games this season. But they always seem to play close against the NL East champions, who are in the playoffs for the sixth straight year. “They’ve got a lot of guys who have played there for a long time and we’ve got some guys that have been here for awhile,” Gonzalez said. “They know us and we know them, so that makes for some close games.” Atlanta will entertain the Astros Tuesday in Game 1 of their best- of-5 playoff series after winning the season series 7-4. But six of the games were one-run decisions and the other five were by two runs. Three games went extra innings. Experience weighs heavily in favor of the Braves. The Astros have not been in the playoffs since 1986. “Those guys have been there so many times and we haven’t,” Gonzalez said. “This is like a nor mal day for them, but it’s a rare experience for us to play against the best. There is no better test than the Atlanta Braves.” Darryl Kile will open the series for the Astros against Greg Maddux. Mike Hampton will start the second game Wednesday and Shane Reynolds will pitch Friday when the series moves to Houston. “People talk about their pitching 1987 Yamaha FZ700 with helmet & charger.
