The Battalion PORTS Friday • September 5, 1997 Z ^ Aggies hungry for season opening victory against Sam Houston State By Chris Ferrell Sports editor ► Y - , ........... ■ ■ COURTESY SPORTS INFORMATION Head Coach R.C. Slocum and his Aggies are confident about Saturday’s game. Saturday has been a long time in coming for Koby Hackradt. After starting all 12 games at center for the Texas A&M Football Team in 1995, Hackradt missed last season due to a knee injury. “(I’m) just ready to get back in there and play,” Hackradt said. “I got injured last year and didn’t get to play. Last year I got to play a little bit, but not as much as I would have liked to or in the role which I would have liked to. I had a good spring and a good two-a-day camp.” He said that he will be ready to play in to morrow’s game. “I stayed in the weight room and worked hard,” he said. “Tve been getting a lot of reps. It’s two years later now. I’ve got more expe rience now. I am a lot more knowledgeable.” The Sam Houston game will mark the 14th start of his career. The game will provide both Hackradt and his teammates an opportunity to improve. “We’re capable of beating them,” he said. "We’ve looked great, and if we can go out there and do what we’re capable of, the rest will take care of itself.” Coach R.C. Slocum said the Sam Houston game will let the Aggies know where they stand. “This is a game for us to look at where we are,” Slocum said. “We’re going to start working to get our team better. That’s what I have to fo cus on and what I’ve got to get our team to fo cus on. friday • Septe Local drink By Apri Lifestyl A7 “We’ve looked great, and if we can go out there and do what we’re capable of, the rest will take care of itself.” KOBY HACKRADT TEXAS A&M CENTER situation. “I have not seen this lineup in a gamebe- "We’re not worried about the fact that we’re playing Sam Houston at home.
