how easily it is to slip into animal be
havior so we can prevent something
like this from happening again.”
Lustig is a professor of literature at
American University and has written
many novels on the Holocaust, in
cluding Diamonds of the Night, The
Street of Lost Brothers, The Prayer for
Katarina Horouitzoua, Children of the
Holocaust, Night and Hope, Darkness
Casts No Shadow, Darling, Oleander
Trees and A Man the Size of a Postage
Stamp. His latest work, The Unloved,
was published in English.

“I realized very quickly that
my big ideas were running
straight into big troubles,” she
said. “I met a guy, dropped out
[of school] and got married.”
After taking a job with a bank,
Baughman ran head-on into sex
discrimination.
“I always wanted to be the
CEO, and after the CEO resigned
I thought I had a chance,” she
said. “However, 1 ran into that
glass ceiling when the board
asked me to help them find the
right man for the job.”
Linda Stewart, a computer sci
ence graduate student, said she

Rabbi Peter Tarlow, Professor Jennifer Goodman
