“The name of [the] person,
where they were from, their age
and what camp they died in will
be read.’’
Cook hopes students will take an
active role in the conference and will
want to continue educating them
selves about the Holocaust.
“The cultural events may in
spire students to read literature
and understand the struggle to
keep the arts alive in the most
horrific of times,” Cook said.
Kenworthy is more concerned
with the diminishing numbers of liv
ing Holocaust survivors and ensur
ing their memory is kept alive.
“My main purpose for getting
involved was to educate people,”
Kenworthy said. "We can’t go back
and change what happened in the
past, so it is important that we ed
ucate people so this doesn’t hap
pen again.”

The largest addition to the Evans
Library Complex is the parking
garage being built next to the Pavil
ion and Peterson Building. The
eight-level garage will have about
600 parking spaces and will provide
easy access to the library.
Parking, Traffic and Transit di
rector Tom Williams said the garage
will have some contract parking,
but parking mainly will be for visi
tors. He said research will be con
ducted to determine the need for
contract parking.
“This is the first time library
users will have parking,” Williams
said. “It is a great asset for students
as well as visitors.”
The Board of Regents awarded the
construction project to Centex Bate
son Construction Company Inc.
Week-by-week pictures of the
construction progress since May
1996 have been available on
A&M’s home page at

The page also has construction
updates, project information and
library announcements.
