LOS ANGELES (AP) — Suspicion
brought unwelcome attention to
Richard Jewell. Now the former se
curity guard is embracing the lime
light, considering a movie deal for
his story as the Olympic park bomb
ing suspect.
Daily Variety, citing unidentified
sources, reported Monday that Jew
ell is considering offers from three
studios, with bids in the mid-six-fig-
ure range.
The entertainment industry news
paper said Jewell is leaning toward a
studio called Fox 2000 and a deal
that also includes the rights to the
Vanity Fair magazine article “American
Nightmare: The Ballad of Richard Jew
ell." None of the participants would
comment to Daily Variety.
Jewell was suspected for months
by federal authorities of setting the
pipe bomb bomb that killed a woman
and injured more than 100 people at
the Olympic Games in Atlanta. The re
sulting media attention ended only
when officials formally said he was no
longer under investigation.
