Last year, the Aggies fin
ished 22nd at the NCAA
national meet with 44 points.
Nash said he hopes that this
year the team will end up in
the top 20, because of their
added strength and depth.
On the other end of the
pool, the men’s diving team is
making its mark as well.
Sophomore Mark Naftanel,
last year’s Southwest
Conference 10-meter tower
champion, beat the 1994 one-
meter springboard World
Champion Evan Stewart in
last week’s dual meet against
Tennessee.
The Aggie divers are consis
tently adding points on the
board to the overall A&M teati'
score, which is much appreci
ated by the swimming team
and staff.
“We have a nice relation
ship with them (the divers),
Nash said. “They are very sup
portive of and loyal to the
swimming program.”
Together, the swimming
and diving teams are preparing
to take on the rest of the Big \l
and make teams around the
nation begin to take notice ofe
program that is slowly becom
ing a force in collegiate swim
ming and diving.
