Tom Chapin is a merry chap
With a hat on his head and guitar in his lap
He’ll strum and hum his funny songs,
But only if you sing along.
When his daughters were eight and six years old,
Tom Chapin realized there weren’t many songs available
for children their age to enjoy. So he decided to write
some. Now recognized as one of the nation’s best-loved
musical storytellers, Chapin captures the imagination of
audiences during his warm, interactive, sing-along
performances. This is a show the whole family will love.

“We’re helping Aggie moms,”
she said. “The purpose is to show
moms a picture of A&M, ease
their concerns, and help them un
derstand the freshmen, like the
problems they’re going through
and adjustments they’re making.”
After the yell practice, the
moms were encouraged to ex

a glimpse of students’ weekend
activities.
Ann Jeffcoats said she saw first
hand what her son, Aaron Jeff
coats, does for fun by surprising
him at a local hangout.
“My first time at (Hurricane)
Harry’s, I bumped into my son and
his friend,” she said. “His friend
saw me but didn’t know who I was,
so to be funny, he said, ‘Oh, Aaron,
there’s your mom,’ and they turned
around and it was me. I was there.
My son knew I was in town, but he
was still surprised.”
On Saturday morning the
mothers ate breakfast at Uni
versity Tower, where Student
Body President Carl Baggett
greeted them on behalf of the
student body.
After breakfast, the Student
Senate and the MSC Hospitality
Committee gave the moms a tour
of campus.
For lunch, the moms dined on
Northgate at the Dixie Chicken.
Don Canter, Dixie Chicken owner,
gave out T-shirts and a table with
