Aggies and Longhorns wage
friendly warfare this week as
they compete to collect pledge
cards from students and faculty
members in support of Texas
Recycle Day, which is Nov. 15.
Nicole Patschke, co-chair of
the Environmental Issues
Committee and a senior agricul
tural business major, said the
purpose of the event is to raise
awareness of recycling and solid
waste problems.
“This will be an excellent
opportunity to use the rivalry
for a good cause,” Patschke said.
“We’re both working toward the
same goal — raising awareness
about recycling.”
The sign-up for pledge cards
began Tuesday and will con
clude today in the Commons
Lobby and the
Student Center.
The pledge is part of a
Sized Recycling
Challenge” issued by
the Texas Recycles
Day Steering
Committee, a group
of 100 representa
tives from the public
and private sectors
organized by the
Texas Natural
Resources
Conservation
Commission
(TNRCC).
Robert Herbert,
recycling coordina
tor for the
University of Texas,
said UT and A&M are always in
competition for something.

so much unneces

the cards. They are
