State Representative Pan Kubiak
★ A Proven Record of Leadership for District 13 ★
As a member of the Texas House of Representatives, Dan Kubiak
has been instrumental in protecting the rights of the people of this
District, as well as improving the welfare and safety of all Texans.

Working for Our District
Working for Our Youth
• Dan sponsored a bill which will help us
promote rural central Texas tourism
by naming the stretch of highway linking
the two presidential libraries the
"Presidential Corridor."
• Dan successfully attached a rider to the
Appropriations Act that prohibited the
use of state funds for the Texas High
Speed Rail Authority, which essentially
killed the Bullet Train.
• Through the appropriations process, Dan
was able to secure funding for seniors,
ranchers, the National Guard, the Star of
the Republic Museum at Blinn, the
Brenham State School, and TDA labs.
Working for Texas
• Developed a balanced two-year
budget, providing for increases in
funding for education and human
services without raising taxes.
• Dan sponsored the Volunteer Fire
Department Liability legislation,
which was designed to ease the
liability burden of VFD's. VFD’s
provide essential fire protection for
almost 80% of the state's land mass,
and do so with extremely limited
resources.

Dan sponsored the Buffalo Soldier At-
Risk Youth Program. This program
will promote education, discipline,
and self-awareness for 'at-risk'
children through a program designed
using actual Buffalo Soldier
curriculum and character
development.

How would you describe GE’s work
environment? Open, inspiring,
charged, fast-paced, non-bureau-
cratic, apolitical. We think you’ll
agree these are particularly appeal
ing adjectives.
We believe in being “boundaryless.”
We’re taking down walls that divide
people, eliminating hierarchies and
stripping out bureaucratic processes
company-wide. And it’s working. We
are a 70 billion dollar global enter
prise whose extremely diverse range
of businesses are number one or
number two in their markets.
Others look to us for management
best practices and our financial
results have shareholders cheering.
We’ll be on
campus this fall. Please
check with
the Placement Office
for more details.
We want to hear from Bachelor’s
and Master’s degree candidates. If
you are bright, creative, passionate
about your work and determined to
make things happen, we want you to
know we find these to be particu
larly appealing qualities.

★ Jim Hartley *
for State Representative District 13
On AGRICULTURE
A seventh-generation Texan whose lived around farming and
ranching all his life, Jim ll«irllc k v knows the importanceol
agriculture to District 13. He will support our farmers
and ranchers by protecting property rights and fighting to
ensure that decisions regarding our groundwater are made
locally, by those who know our community — not some bureaucrat
in Austin. With 9 years experience on the Southwest Milam
Water Supply Corporation, Jim understands the importance of
local control over water rights. Our area is one of the
top cattle producers in the state, and Jim Hartley will be a
strong and vocal advocate in the promotion of Texas beef and
other agriculture products. ★ He will oppose any legislation
which puts an undue burden on owners of agricultural property,
including farmers and ranchers. Jim knows that strong
farmers and ranchers mean a stronger Texas. ^
