Heinroth’s view of
Mail
Israel lacks sense
Regarding Michael Heinroth’s
Oct. 7 column, “Arabs, not Israel,
should pick up the slack:”
Is Heinroth for real? Is he really
that ignorant about the Middle
East? The notion of forcing Arab
nations to provide a homeland for
the Palestinians has not been seri
ously discussed in Israeli politics
for quite some time. The only ones
still advocating such positions are a
handful of cranky ideological
extremist hard liners.
The racism in his column is
appalling. He characterizes Arabs as
oil-rich fundamentalists having too
much desert. Funny, because Syria’s
economy is still suffering from the
demise of their chief benefactor, the
Soviet Union; Syria joined the Gulf
War coalition in the hopes of secur
ing foreign aid from the US. A hike in
bread prices caused open rebellion
in Jordan a few months back. Don’t
misrepresent cultures you don’t
understand. Don’t get me wrong. I
have absolutely no love for Mr.
Arafat (or Assad for that matter).
Too many of my friends and rela
tives have been killed as a result of
his actions and decisions. However,
stereotypically branding the Arabs
as bad and the Israelis as inn
and good does not help the si!
tion. Neither does refusii\|
acknowledge the folly-filled a
teurish behavior of the Net®

government. And, by the way,
criticism is directed atyoubya
who used to live in Israel.
