NEW YORK (AP) — Kurt Russell
has meant big box-office for years, so
why isn't he usually mentioned in the
same breath as Tom Cruise, Tom
Hanks and Arnold Schwarzenegger?
"I'm not a magazine cover guy,"
Russell told Newsday in an interview
published Sunday. "My opinions
aren't popular and I don't promote
myself. My movies, yes, but not me."
Russell's past three films — Exec
utive Decision, Stargate and Tomb
stone — have made more than $200
million in the United States alone.
But the actor, whose latest film is

in the New
Hampshire pri
mary and his ef
forts to push the
party toward
more conserva
tive positions.
Buchanan's
angry speech at the 1992 conven
tion, in which he said America was
in the midst of a religious and cultur
al war, alienated many Republicans
and was blamed for scaring away
voters.
Buchanan was unapologetic. A
video prepared for the Sunday nighl
event called the address "one of the
most remembered orations of the
20th century."
