the week is a fitting way to pay

forget what kind of an impact he had on us."

president, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity
“The week encompasses the
many facets of the life of Regi
nald,” he said.
Traylor said he hopes the
week’s activities will open stu
dents’ eyes to issues on campus
and help them to better under
stand Broadus’ role in them.
“We want to uplift Regi
nald’s name so people don’t
forget what kind of an impact
which he worked with elemen

The two men arrested and
convicted of his murder were 20
and 15 years old at the time.
“It’s ironic because the very
things that took his life were
the things he dedicated his life
to improving,” he said. “These
were the type of individuals
that he wanted to help—mi
nority individuals who hadpo

they needed.”
Broadus was a recipiento[

he was also the co-foundero!
Prime Time Posse, a group that
performs skits to high school
students to encourage them to
do well in school.
Carreathers said he hopes stir
dents will be able to gain from
Explosion Week the same spirit
Broadus had for his community.
“I hope people really take
time to reflect back upon the
life of Reginald and the contri
butions he was trying to make
here at Texas A&M and to so
ciety,” he said. “The week
serves as a remembrance to stu
dents who participate in theac
tivities of what life is really
about, and what things they
should be doing.
“Reginald was symbolic of all
good in life.”
