Much like the rest of the ath letic clubs at Texas A&M, the Men’s Team is pointing to the fi nal Southwest Conference championship as a major goal. The Aggies will get there chance to get to work on that goal today at 1:30 p.m. at the Omar Smith Tennis Center when they open conference play against Texas Tech Uni versity in a dual match. The Aggies go into the SWC opener with a 13-3 sea son record, and have won six straight matches. A&M is fresh off a success ful road trip to Florida last weekend that saw the Aggies post a 3-0 record against Ohio State, Miami, Fla. and Florida In ternational. “We are peaking at a very good time,” Texas A&M Head Tennis Coach David Kent said. “I think we’re ready to start up conference play. We play a tough non-conference schedule so that we’re pre pared for the Southwest Conference.” The Red Raiders come to College Station with an 8-5 overall record and a No. 34 national ranking, which is their highest national rank ing in school history. Tech is led by senior Mat- tias Rohlin, who is ranked No. 11 nationally. “This will be a big chal lenge for us,” Texas A&M se nior captain Eric Horan said. “Texas Tech is a much im proved team over last year’s squad and they will be ready to play us. “We’ve had pretty good suc cess lately, and I think we’re ready to start conference play.” Kent 4r MSC Political Forum H.
