Magic records triple-double □ The Lakers forward had 15 points, 13 as sists and 10 rebounds. INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) — Magic Johnson, in his longest stint since his return, logged his first triple-double in five years with 15 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds Wednesday night in the Los Angeles Lak ers’ 87-86 victory over the At lanta Hawks. Johnson, in his sixth game since coming out of retirement on Jan. 29, played 39 minutes and was orchestrating the show for the Lakers as the game went down to the wire. With the Lakers trailing 86- 85, Johnson passed to Vlade Di- vac, who was fouled and made both free throws to put Los An geles up by a point with 19 sec onds left. Lady Ags Continued from Page 7 the ballgame.” The Lady Aggies came out of the blocks smoking and were actually up by as many as 14 points in the first half. A&M shot 56.5 percent from the floor in the half and were led by junior forward Marianne Sevin, who poured in 13 of her 17 points in the first half. But Texas, led by sharp shooting guard Danielle Vig- ilone, went on a late first-half run to trail only 39-37 at half time. A&M Head Coach Candi Harvey believed the Lady Longhorns late first-half surge is what cost the Lady Aggies the victory. “The game was probably lost in the first half when Texas when on that run,” Harvey said. “We gave up some easy transition baskets. Our shot selection got a little bit questionable, and we were rushing shots. “We were playing like we were 15 points behind when we still had a lead.” There was one bright spot on the night for the Lady Aggies. Despite re- covering from the flu, Lisa Branch poured in a game-high 23 points to be come A&M’s all-time men and women’s career scoring leadkr. The loss drops the Lady Aggies to 5-5 in Southwest Conference play and 14-9 overall. Texas moved to 14-7 over all and 9-1 in the SWC to stay in second place behind confer-, ence-leading Texas Tech Uni versity. The Lady Aggies will re turn to action on Saturday when they Rice University on Saturday in Houston. Their next home game will be against the University of Houston next Wednesday.
