More than 100 years of gridiron strife has transformed this annual clash of Lone Star state heavyweights into one of the nation’s most storied college football rivalries. A look at how the rivalry has developed over the years shows that both schools have had their stretches of mastery over the oth er. The Longhorns led the overall series between the two teams 49-28-3, due in large part, to dominance over the Ag gies from 1940 to 1974. During that lengthy period, the Aggies managed only two wins and a tie against Texas. One of these Aggie wins came in ip ih m leal 1956, when A&M halfback John!)
