By Kristina Buffin The Battalion The warmup for the South west Conference season contin ued this weekend for the Texas A&M men’s tennis team at the A&M Six-Way Invitational. The Aggies had four singles players advance to the quarterfi nals — top-seeded Blake Arrant, third-seeded Carlos Tori, Eric Horan and Brent Horan. Arrant and Eric Horan ad vanced to the semifinals. Horan defeated Arrant 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) to move on to face Texas Tech’s Mattis Rohlin in the final. Horan lost in the final 6-2, 6- 3, but was happy with his play. Although he is not making any excuses, he attributes the deci sive win to pure fatigue. “I ran into tough competi tion,” Horan said. “(Rohlin) has experience from Sweden. I’ve been playing a lot in the last two weeks and had seven matches in the last two days.” Despite his loss in the fi nals, Kent is excited about Ho ran’s play. “He played really well,” Kent said. “He had a bunch of matches and he is playing his best ever.” In doubles play, the top-seed ed team of Arrant and Eric Ho ran advanced to the finals, but the fourth-seeded team lost in the second round to Robert Bar ry and Dieter Schwendinger of Texas Tech, 8-4. In the finals, Arrant and Ho ran defeated Matthew Walsh and Andres Urencio of TCU, 8-5. “We have our top guys in the lineup,” Horan said. “We have 12 good, competitive and tough matches here.
