tor a change
If you don't hove a
chair or two, everybody
will end up sitting on
your bed. And that can
be really awkward,
especially if you're in it.
Express your dark, romantic side with a few
well-placed candles. Your room will look great,
and your friends will think you re heavy.
What's the catch? Nothing, except for the following boring
restrictions: Like your discount can only be used for regularly
priced merchandise, no sale or clearance stuff. And you can't
use it with any other coupon or discount. And you can't use it
for Gift Certificates or for delivery charges. And you can't use
it on cloudy days. Just kidding. So do yourself a major favor.
Save a huge amount of cash and stop by Pier 1. Offer valid
only between August 12, and September 30, 1995.
Sure, you can build storage

concrete blocks. But our

Activities continue with weekent
showing of My Family Mi Famili,
By Rachel Barry
The Battalion
H ispanic Heritage Month
activities continue this
weekend with the show
ing of My Family, Mi Familia at
Rudder Auditorium.
The showing brought together
Omega Delta Phi, the Society of
Hispanic Professional Engi
neers, the Puerto Rican Student
Association and the MSC Film
Society in an effort to give A&M
students an example of one His
panic lifestyle.
Adrian Ramirez, vice president
of Omega Delta Phi and a senior
food science and poultry science
major, said plans were being
made at the beginning of the
summer to bring the film to cam
pus for Hispanic Heritage Month.
When he approached the
MSC Film Society, he said, he
was pleasantly surprised to dis
cover Mi Familia had already
been scheduled to be shown dur
ing September. The other orga
nizations joined Omega Delta
Phi and the MSC Film Society to
help with funding and organiza
tion of the project.
Shannon Dunphy, president
of the Society of Hispanic Profes
sional Engineers, said the show
ing. of Mi Familia gives students
a viewpoint of a Hispanic family.
She said, however, that it is not
to be seen as the only type of
Hispanic lifestyle.
“I don’t want anyone to come
away thinking all Hispanic fami
lies are like that,” she said. “But
it is a good indication.”
Ramirez also said that Mi
Familia is just a taste of His
panic culture.
Danny King, chair of MSC
Film Society and a senior me
chanical engineering major, said
bringing the four organizations
together on the project is benefi
cial for everyone involved.
“It is good to see how other or
ganizations work,” he said. “It
helps make internal things in
our organization better.”
MSC Film Society has spon
sored films with other organiza
tions before, but this is the first
time it has worked with three
other groups at once. Ramirez
said working with the otk
ganizations is a bonus.
“Especially when you:

“It gets everyone’s atter:
he said. “It sparks the inters. '
