Bernie Gessner, owner of Ag gie Cleaners, said the street dance will be a way to get some thing positive out of the noisy, inconvenient summer construc tion project. Hot dogs, pizza rolls and soft drinks will be sold, and all prof its will go to the Northgate Scholarship Fund, which is be ing created by the Northgate Merchants Association. At 6 p.m., a ribbon cutting ceremony will officially begin what Northgate merchants hope will be a period of revitalization and growth, v John Raney,- owner of Texas Aggie Book store, said he hopes the street dance will increase awareness of North- gate services. “We want people to come see the new street,” he said. “We want people to get accustomed to coming to Northgate. Northgate has a lot to offer.” Richard Benning, owner of Duddley’s Draw and Fitzwilly’s, said the celebration will be a way to show off the work that has been completed in the revi talization project. “Everyone can get an impres sion of what Northgate is going to be like,” he said. “We’re doing this so the citizens of College Station can see how the money is being used.” Northgate merchants said they hope the street dance, which was organized quickly this month, will become an an nual event. Benning said that next year the dance might be expanded to include children’s games and hay rides.
