Pearl Jam may end Ticketmaster wa
Pearl Jam
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Locked out of most large
arenas for its current tour, Pearl Jam is reassessing
its 18-month war against Ticketmaster.
The Seattle-based band may use the giant ticket
agency in planning new show dates, band manager
Kelly Curtis said.
“I think you’ll find that the band is just goiij
do whatever it takes to just play. And if that me!
they’re going to have to play some Ticketmai
shows, they’re going to play Ticketmaster shot
Curtis said.
Pearl Jam had planned its current 11-citytt
around sites that didn’t use Ticketmaster, which
band accused of price gouging and monopoly. Bs
was a struggle.
“It took us a whole year to plan these sum:
dates, and we’re not going to go through that ag:
Curtis said Tuesday. “We did want to make a pc
on how difficult it is to tour without Ticketmas:
and we made the point.”
Many shows sold out. But the band was effect:
ly locked out of most large-scale venues becat
many sites over 5,000 seats rely exclusively onTj
etmaster, Carman said.
‘There’s not a single stadium booked ontheil
Coast because there’s not a single stadium tt
doesn’t use Ticketmaster,” Carman said.
Herndon arrested for indecency, drug
FORT WORTH, Texas (AP)
— Country star Ty Herndon
faces indecency and drug pos
session charges after allegedly
exposing himself to an under
cover officer.
Ironically, Herndon, 33, was
arrested at a park in east Fort
Worth Tuesday night, about 90
minutes before he was scheduled
to perform at a downtown hotel
for a state convention of police
chiefs, police said Wednesday.
Herndon, whose full name is
Boyd T. Henderson, was arrest
ed on charges of indecent expo
sure and possession of a con
trolled substance. Fort Worth
police Lt. Greg Bradley said. A
packet of yellow powder found
in Herndon’s wallet was later
identified as methampheta-
mines, police say.
Herndon, who lives in Dallas,
was freed on $500 bond that
night after being arrested at 7:30
p.m. Tuesday.
Police said Herndon asked an
undercover officer to accompany
him to a nearby wooded area of
the park. The officer reported
that the singer sat on a log, ex
posed his genitals and began
masturbating.
The report says the man
then asked the officer if he was
a policeman. The officer al
legedly identified himself and
arrested him.
“We don’t give special favors in
circumstances like that to any
one,” Bradley said. "It’s unfortu
nate for him; it’s unfortunak
us. It’s an opportunity for hk
re-evaluate his life and mav
take some measures to straigk
that up.”
Herndon, originally frc
Butler, Ala., also was schedfe
to play at one of Texas’largi
country dance halls in Aug:
Billy Bob’s Texas in Fc
Worth.
That event was still on ai
Wednesday.
