Continued from Page 1
seemed to embody the definition
of Aggie Parents of the Year.
“When I think of Aggie Parents
of the Year, I think of a role mod
el for 43,000 students," she said.
“My parents’ devotion to their
family, God and education has al
ways made them seem worthy of
this type of honor.”
Shirley Bilhartz said she was
surprised when the award win
ners were announced.
“When they called our names,
it brought tears to my eyes,” she
said. “Hearing our names was
quite a shock because we were ex
pecting to see our daughter re
ceive an award.”
She said the entire Parents’
Weekend was a wonderful ex
perience, mostly because of the
people.
"I was so pleased and im
pressed at the reception,’’she said.
“We were overwhelmed by the
number of hardworking and intel
ligent young people and their Ag
gie spirit.”
The Bilhartz family know
what they’re talking about
when discussing Aggie spirit.
They own and operate the Dun
canville-based J.R.B. Oil and
Gas Co. , which is housed in a
maroon-and-white painted
building. In addition, they also
painted their oil field equip
ment maroon and white and

operate maroon-colored compa
ny cars.
"We probably have two of
everything pertaining to A&M, H
she- said. "Everything is ma
roon and white from the compa
ny stationary to the building
logo. My husband even drives a
maroon car.”
She said they are looking for
ward to a year of serving A&M in
any way possible.
"We’re very excited about
representing A&M at different
events,” she said. “Even
though we can’t get a room,
we’re ready for Final Review,
Although it’s a good little drive
to College Station and back,
we’ll do it for A&M.”
