division to visit with us,” Lee
said. “We asked how they see
the office of the vice president
and the qualifications necessary
for the position.”
Lee took over as interim vice
president for finance and ad
ministration after Robert Smith
left the position.
Smith was convicted in No
vember of soliciting gifts as a
public servant while negotiating
a contract for the University’s
campus bookstore with Barnes
& Noble, Inc.
Dr. Jerry Gaston, interim
vice president for finance and
administration, has said he is
not seeking the permanent posi
tion, but has applied for execu
tive vice president and provost.
Lee said the committee does
not expect a large crowd at the
forum, but encourages everyone
interested to attend.
“I have no idea how many
people are going to show up,”
Lee said. “We did not envision
a tremendous event. As far as I
know, all the members of the
committee are going to be there.
“It’s a terribly important po
sition to the University. We
want to be sure we provide in
terested individuals the oppor
tunity to share their views.”

“Diana gives us our job de

said. “We keep busy, especially

worth it.”
Dumas said the 1995 year
book is on schedule and stu

their books on time, sometime
in October.
"Things are more efficient
this year than past years,” she
said. “We don’t anticipate a De

The Aggieland editor is re

into a time-consuming job.
