I need to get a sharper break on my curve and need to develop my change up. Some times I just don’t have a feel for it but it’s getting better.” Mitchell’s confidence has steadily grown despite getting hit pretty hard earlier in the season. “I’ve gotten pretty lucky late ly,” Mitchell said. “In the fall I gave up four home runs in one outing and the team gave me a pretty hard time about that. It hurts your confidence and it took me about two or three days to shake it off.” Mitchell’s biggest accom plishment this season was his win against the University of Houston at the beginning of April. “Houston was my best game because it was a conference game and I was able to pick up the win,” Mitchell said. “Conference games mean more even though 1 couldn’t throw my curve balls for strikes. But I was able to pitch for seven innings.” Mitchell was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in 1993 but is not worrying about that far ahead in the future; he has more immediate goals. “I would like to win the con ference and be named to the All-Southwest Conference team but that is a goal of every play er,” Mitchell said. “I thought about playing for the Indians a lot when I was in junior college but coming to A&M has changed my entire thought process. Now I’ll play (in the pros) if I can but I’m not going to worry about it.” Banquet Continued from Page 9 NCAA bid for the second straight year.
