I wanted to do it because of what it em bodied, not to be the first woman.” Scott said that when she was named 1986-87 deputy Corps commander, the highest position a female has held in the Corps, people made it into a bigger deal than they should have. “The press hit on it,” Scott said. “I wanted to talk to them because I knew it came with the job, but my buddies on Corps staff weren’t getting any at tention. “There was a certain tension. It was a big deal at the time, but I felt like I was just a cadet.” Scott said despite hardships, her service in the Corps has always been a help. “When I graduated, there were op portunities awaiting me that I would n’t have had if I hadn’t been in the Corps,” Scott said. “Now, when I’m up against some thing tough, I think ‘remember when we went on that weapons run in RVs, and then I know I can do it. \ JOIN US FOB AftM Dillard’s and The Eagle invite you to join in the fun on Saturday, November 19, at 9:00 a.m. in the Dillard’s parking lot Join us in the Dillard’s parking lot facing Harvey Rd. for a high spirited community yell practice with A&M yell leaders.
