REINCARNATED BILLY GOAT RETURNS TO
By' Kyle Burnett
The Battalion
Hey kids! Guess who’s coming to town —
it’s Billy Goat!
Fresh off an East Coast tour and boasting of
a new live album, the p-funk band-o-fun will
take to the familiar stage at the Stafford Opera
House Saturday night.
Some old Goat fans may be a bit reluctant to
drive downtown and pay about $7 to see a
band that has a higher turnover rate than the
Dallas Mavericks coaching staff. So maybe the
following material will help them decide.
Question: Who is Billy Goat now?
According to Zac Baird, Billy Goat’s key
boardist, this incarnation of the band is the
best offspring of the ever-evolving tribal
lifeblood.
“This is the Billy Goat now and we are on a
very cool trip,” he said. “Everyone remembers
a particular version of Billy Goat. But all of the
former members left on their own because
they had other things they wanted to do.
Maybe people expect to see a certain version of
the band but this version of Billy Goat is kick
ing ass.”
Question: Who are the members?
Billy Goat still has two of the founding
members — the notorious lyricist Mike Dillon
remains on percussion and vocals, and the god
dess of props, Kim Pruitt, carries on with
dance and an increased vocal role. The rest of
the lineup is Baird, formerly with Whitey, Steve
Roehm on drums, Syd Madden on guitar and

did 200 shows last year. Most bands I
that, but we are getting real populari
places. You wouldn’t think of BillyGj
DcMoines, Iowa, but we are the
there right now.
"We like playing in Texas butithasli
hard to get people to respond there. 1
they will react to our new sound."
Question: What is the band’s news
Baird said the band still performs all

Question: Where has the Native Texas

Baird added that their sound is n
of funk, rap, ska and rock.
“We have been working with Karl

Question: Now what is this new live
Baird said the new album consistsol
tracks. Of the 17, 14 are previously un
songs, two are old tunes, "F—k

by Kim. The album was recorded ata
