Nursing home employee charged in
sexual assault of paralyzed woman

SAN ANTONIO — A man has been charged with
sexually assaulting a 32-year-old paralyzed nursing
home resident who became pregnant and then lost
the baby, authorities say.
Dennis Paul Wallace, 39, was charged with sexual
assault and released Sunday from Bexar County Jail
after posting a $25,000 bond.
A report identified Wallace as a nursing home
employee, according to the San Antonio Express-
News' editions Monday.
Police said they received a tip that a man told
workers at Four Seasons Nursing Home he feared
the woman had become pregnant because of hisses-
ual contact with her.
The victim has been paralyzed from the neck
down and unable to speak since 1980 when she was
sexually assaulted and shot in the head, accordinglc
police and court records.
Marynell Maloney, an attorney representingtbc 1
woman and her mother, said the woman can shake
her head in response to yes-or-no questions.
On Feb. 11, officials said, the mother was told he!
daughter was pregnant. The woman, six months preg
nant, went into labor Feb. 17 and a stillborn infant was
delivered the next day at University Hospital.
