Spurs surge past
Magic, O'Neal
with late run
The Associated Press
SAN ANTONIO - David
Robinson scored 36 points and
Dale Ellis added 22 to pace the
San Antonio Spurs to a 111-103
victory over Orlando on Sunday.
Robinson and Ellis combined
for 24 of San Antonio's 37 fourth-
quarter points to guide a 16-point
comeback in the last 14 minutes
in the nationally televised game.
Robinson chipped in with 13
rebounds, seven assists and six
blocked shots in his duel with Or
lando center Shaquille O'Neal,
who marked Magic team-high to
tals of 32 points and 11 rebounds
on his 22nd birthday.
Orlando shot only 33 percent
from the field in the fourth quar
ter as the Magic were outscored
37-17.
The Spurs took the lead for
good on Ellis' rebound basket
with 2:06 remaining. Robinson
then added a basket and foul shot
and two more foul shots.
Loss

"A loss is a loss," Edwards
said. "You don't want to go
out losing during senior day,
but you just don't want to lose
any game.
"1 am more worried about us
losing three games in a row."
Edwards said the Aggies are
playing the same way as they
were when they won seven in a
row during
the first round
of the season.
"The ball is
just not
bouncing our
way right
now," he said.
"We just have
to keep our
heads up and
start the tour
nament off
well. Once the
Murry
SWC tournament starts, our
record will be 0-0."
Joe Wilbert was one of the
keys for the Aggies during the
Aggies first 11 games of the
season, but Wilbert has strug
gled in the la^t three games.
Wilbert has been bothered
by a cut above his left eye.
In the last three games,
Wilbert has combined to score a
total of 14 points, scoring five
points against Tech, six points
against Baylor and three points
against Texas Christian.
Barone said he did not
know what was wrong will;
Wilbert, but agreed with Ed
wards that the SWC tourna
ment is a new start for A&M.
"We are trying to figure out
what is wrong with Wilbert,
Barone said. " We miss him,
and for some reason he has not
been able to contribute in the
last few games.
"We just need to get over
our slump and get into the
tournament. The tournamentis
the new beginning for us."
