Jenny Edwards, a senior at East
Central who had driven her class
mates to the restaurant and was
sitting at the same table when
they were wounded, said the gun
man twice tried to shoot her, but
was out of ammunition.
"That was the first time I had
heard gunshots. It sounded like
'pops.' 1 didn't know it was real,"
she said. "It took a long time for
me to get to sleep last night, but
you can't let one bad guy ruin
somebody's life."
Davis, who bounced her 4-
month-old son on her knee at the
hospital, said her daughter was
able to call her after she had been
shot.
"She said, 'Mommy, please
help me. I've been shot in the back
and it burns real bad,'" Davis
said.
